Propolis is a mainly resinous substance which bees collect from trees and plants. They take this resin back to the hive where other products, in particular wax, are added and the whole substance transformed into what we know as propolis. It is a sticky material that bees very efficiently use to seal hive holes or cracks. Its color can vary enormously. It ranges from a light yellow or brown to a dark brown color, often with a reddish hue.
